Pre and Post Treatment Advice

Chemical Peel Treatment Precare

  • Prior to an Environ Cool Peel, it is essential to prepare the skin with a Vitamin A regime for a minimum of 3 weeks to prepare the skin before commencing treatment.
  • If you are not already using Vitamin A is recommended that your book for a skin consultations to find the appropriate regime for your skin concerns and lifestyle.
  • It is possible for active acne to have this treatment without using the products first however we strongly recommend using Environ products afterwards for best results and a course of 6-12 treatments would be recommended.
  • If you can arrive to your appointment free of makeup (not essential) it would help your therapist assess your skin prior to treatment.

Chemical Peel Treatment Aftercare

  • Avoid sun exposure, including sun beds, for a minimum of 7 days
  • Re-apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen every 1.5-2 hours
  • Avoid exercise for 24 hours
  • Avoid swimming – chemicals could irritate the skin
  • Do not have a hot shower ,
  • Do not rub, pick or irritate the skin
  • Avoid AHAs and Retinol for 24 hours (normal skin) or 72 hours (sensitive skin)
  • Avoid Alpha Cream for 1 week before and after an Environ peel
  • Moisturise the skin adequately day and night. The B-Active range can be used immediately after the peel

Results are progressive but you will notice a difference in the skin immediately after treatment.

Not suitable to having a Chemical Peel

  • Skin not adequately prepared on Vitamin A for a minimum of 3 weeks.
  • Excessive sun /sunbed / outdoor sports - 1 week pre/post 7-10 days both before and after a peel (care taken if peeling during summer months)
  • Roaccutane, for at least 6–12 months e.g. Iso-tretinoin
  • Vitamin A treatments e.g. Tigason
  • Recent dermabrasion, waiting period of 6 months
  • Laser resurfacing treatments requires a 6-8 week wait
  • Microneedling treatments require a waiting period of 1 week.
  • Waxing electrolysis or extractions - 10 days pre/post Waxing
  • Porphyria, a group of disorders that can cause nerve or skin problems.
  • Diabetes or other major illnesses, GP Consent
  • Skin diseases, eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis should be avoided in the treatment area.
  • Pregnancy due to hormone changes.
  • Cancer treatment / radiation - (must wait 2 years in remission) 
  • Fever blisters / cold sores (if prone to an outbreak can occur)
  • Pigmentation
  • Recent permanent make up - 2 weeks once healed
