What are skin tags?
Skin tags are very common overgrowths of loose fibrous tissue. Flesh-coloured or brown in colour they vary in shape and size, maybe flat (sessile) or attached by a stalk (pedunculated).
Skin tags mainly form in skin creases and areas of skin friction such as the eyelid, underarms, groin, around bra strap, breast, groin, between buttocks, around the neck where necklaces and collars irritate. ` Skin tags can form singularly or in multiple distributions
What causes skin tags?
Skin tags are viral in nature (from the Human Papilloma Virus HPV) and whilst not infectious they can proliferate on individuals with some people suffering from hundreds of them. They can snag on clothes or catch become sore or infected
How do we remove skin tags?
Removing them is a straight forward procedure we cut and cauterise the skin tags using the heat from an electrolysis probe. The results are instant and normally all tags are removed in a single session. A small red marks or scabbing appearing after treatment. These will disappear after 7-10 days.
