What causes Spider Naevus?
Cause usually results from some kind of trauma to the skin, for example, a child following a minor mishap such as bumping into an object, can develop a spider naevus in the traumatised area. Several spider naevus appearing spontaneously is a cause for concern as it might indicate liver disease. There is also a hormonal link, certain conditions can make them worse including extreme heat and cold, obesity, pregnancy, stress, or pressure on the area.
How are Spider Naevus removed?
They are removed with high frequency current, using a very fine probe placed on the skins surface and a little heat cauterises and seals of the vascular blemish. They may be treated swiftly and with minimum discomfort, although depending on the cause they can be quite resilient, and more than one treatment may be necessary. Results are instantaneous, though larger ones, can take up to 1 week to fade, and may follow up treatment to 4-6 weeks later.
